Rory McIlroy shot an 8-under-par 62 on Saturday at the St. Jude Invitational in Memphis to improve to 12-under 198, good for a one-shot lead over Brooks Koepka (64) at the World Golf Championships event.

McIlroy, who missed the cut by a stroke last week in the British Open, had a nine-birdie, one-bogey round. He moved from a tie for 17th to the top of the leaderboard at TPC Southwind by finishing his round with three consecutive birdies.

Second-round leader Matthew Fitzpatrick (69) was third, two strokes back. Marc Leishman (63), Alex Noren (66) and Jon Rahm (68) were three shots behind.

LPGA Tour: Cresting a wave of South Koreans atop the Evian Championship leaderboard, Hyo Joo Kim fired a third-round 65 to move one shot clear of Sung Hyun Park (66) at 15-under 198 in the major in Evian-les-bains, France.

Four shots back in a tie for third place were seven-time major winner Inbee Park (69) and Jin Young Ko (66), who won the season’s first major, the ANA Inspiration, in April.

PGA Tour: In Reno, Troy Merritt scored five points with a 53-foot eagle putt on the par-5 18th to take a two-point lead over Robert Streb in the Barracuda Championship, the PGA Tour’s only modified Stableford scoring event.

Other events: In the Senior British Open, Paul Broadhurst birdied two of the last three holes for a 3-under 67 in wet conditions at Royal Lytham & St. Annes, England, giving him a one-shot lead over Woody Austin (68) at 5-under 205. ... China’s Lei Ye, an incoming Stanford freshman, beat Jillian Bourdage of Tamarac, Fla., 1 up in the 36-hole final to win the U.S. Girls’ Junior Championship in Stevens Point, Wis.
