FINGAL SENIORS TOP OF THE LEAGUE
FINGAL SENIORS
The Fingal seniors shot to the top of the league this week with a magnificent win against Corrstown.
With some of the regular team members unavailable Manager Tom Rooney took out his clubs and entered the fray.
Tom showed that management hasn’t diminished his appetite for matchplay when with partner Pat they cruised to a comfortable win
at the Corrstown Venue. The Corrstown team were no match for our Boys in the next two games, With a win and a draw Hollywood took 5 of the 6 points on offer. John leonard led the home contingent to a 6-0 victory to bring the final result to 11 -1 and thus cementing our place at the top of the table. Well Done lads to qualify for the knockout rounds with one group match remaining is a great achievement.
FINGAL JUNIORS GET OFF TO GREAT START
The Fingal Juniors Team Under the watchful eye of Sheila Goggins and John Duff , hit the ground running in the opening round of the 2019 Fingal Juniors League . Following on from a great 2018 debut season, our lads served notice that Hollywood lakes are a force to be reckoned with. On a windswept Howth Golf Course our team posted a fine total of 107 points placing us second in the 16 team League. Our team led by Capt Luke Johnston, Justin Hogan, Aaron Mooney, and Tadgh O’Halloran are playing great golf and will certainly be aiming to beat our fifth place finish of last year. Our Thanks go to Carr Golf for their generous sponsorship of the teams shirts, ensuring that not only are the team playing great, they look great too.
McDONNELL CUP TEAM MARCH ON,
Independence Day and while Donald Trump was warmongering, Hollywood Lakes were engaged in their own battle of Clontarf .
Colm Connells Stalwarts were taking on Clontarf GC in this second round encounter. With the away draw, this was a match that we approached more in hope than expectation. But our fears were turned to our advantage as the team had practised with great dedication, particularly at the away venue. Taking control of the home matches, word filtered through that the away matches were more than holding their own. At one point we were ahead in all five matches and eventually we ran out winners by a super 4-1 margin. So on to the Semi Finals where we await news of our next opponents.

O’Grady Cup
Sunday 7th July Sees Our O’Grady Cup team in action against Malahide GC. We have Home advantage in this round but as always we recognise that Malahide are formidable opponents so nothing will be taken for granted. Alison and Andrew have their charges training hard for this second round encounter and we wish them the best of luck as they battle to retain their title. Try to get out at some stage to either venue to lend your support the teams and managers really do appreciate it.
Fingal Juniors
Monday sees the Junior Team in action again where the venue is Rush GC. An early start here with first off at 8am. Here’s hoping the weather is better than we got in Howth.
