Sherpa wins Monthly Medal, shares lead

Kathmandu, June 22

Babu Sherpa won the third edition title of the Surya Nepal Gokarna Monthly Medal here at the Gokarna Golf Club today.

Played under strokeplay full handicap format, the eight handicapper scored sevenunder 65 to finish first in nett section. Col Avaneesh Chambial was second with the score of five-under 67, while Prabhakar Adhikari came third at fourunder 68.

Wangchen Dhondup won the gross section trophy after he carded one-under 71, while Sadbhav Acharya was the junior category winner with the score of one-under 71 nett. A total of 39 golfers participated in the event sponsored Surya Nepal Pvt Ltd. Captain of Gokarna Golf Club, Joseph Nathan handed over the prizes to the winners.

After the third edition, Babu Sherpa joined Joseph Nathan at the top of the nett section leaderboard with 105 points, while Rabendra Raj Pandey and Vijay Shrestha Einhaus shared the third position with 100 points.

Col Avaneesh Chambial was fifth with 80 points.

In gross section, Wangchen Dhondup was the leader with 195 points, while his brother Tashi Tsering was second with 180 points. Vijay Shrestha Einhaus was third with 160 points, followed by Babu Sherpa (60) and Pavitra Kumar Karki (40).

Likewise, Sadbhav Acharya moved to the top in junior section with 200 points, while Ang Phurba was second with 140 points. Mayank Dahal (120), Shaswat Pradhan (60) and Shreeyog Basnyat (40) were in top five.
