Uden Cup Team Bow Out
UDEN CUP
Sunday saw the unfortunate defeat of our Uden Cup Team when they came up against the might of Our near neighbours Swords Golf Club. Having Lost the two home matches all eyes turned to Swords and the gripping battle there. After a mighty tussle and some superb Golf we had taken two of the three matches and it fell to the last match to carry off the prize. Two fine shots into the seventeenth green and we could see the winning post, but it was not to be. Sadly three puts were dispatched and the hole and the match were lost. Our thanks go to the panel and Managers Gary and John for their effort and commitment and Hard Luck to all concerned it was a valiant fight.JUNIOR CUP
Saturday saw our Junior cup team in action in the windswept seaside venue of Corballis Links. Despite playing great golf from tee to green our lads were unable to master the tricky greens on this famous Links course, subsequently finishing well down the field. Better luck next year lads again our thanks to the team and manager Andrew.
FRED PERRY TROPHY
This match against Ardee GC was played in great spirit with the players fully enjoying the camaraderie of the fray. The news from the away team was not good and we were struggling in both matches. At home the first pair of matches were routine wins for our boys, not so the last match who were in a rare battle. When the two matches away were lost we began to fear the worst as our final home match were now struggling to survive. The day was lost on the seventeenth hole when the Ardee player assured his par with a majestic chip to inches of the hole.
Unfortunately it came to light that as one of the Ardee players had incorrectly received an extra shot on his h/c allowance, the result will now be submitted to the Gui for adjudication. What a pity this match, played in such good spirits should end this way, but let there be no doubt the we parted company with Ardee on the day as the best of friends and we will remain so whatever the outcome.
