I’m so glad I started this thread many months ago - but nothing resolved as yet - just a lot of arguing and bad feeling which is sad.
I would put my money on it changing back and it being allowed for the old LR to be optionally implemented in the case of stones in bunkers - I’d guess 99% would do so.
In a bunker it is more dangerous than in other parts of the course.
Quite often you are not hitting the ball but are ‘Splashing’ the sand to get the ball up vertically and if there is a stone against your ball it could quite easily travel directly upwards towards your face (along with the sand). In other parts of the course you would mostly be hitting a different type of shot where you would be hitting the Ball in a way to get it going in a more forward direction so chances are the stone against your ball would also be moving in that direction and not vertically?
There’s nothing to lose by allowing this LR so why not do it? It’s worked well for many years.
