The new golf season approaches
So here we are again, at the start of a new season and all eager for some great golf! It would seem that, within reason, the winter has been fairly kind to us and the courses have generally remained open.
So what is new for the coming season?
Well there are the new rules of golf which came into effect from the 1st January 2019, so if you have not yet taken one of the FREE rule books that have been placed around the club, please do. Remember you are not expected to know the book off by heart, simply to be able to find the relevant rule and procedure in the book and act accordingly.
I am going to work more with our Junior Section this year and the Oaks membership now only costs £10 per month if a parent of the child is a member and/or the child has a CONGU handicap. They will then have the opportunity to play in all of the adult competitions, in addition to the Junior programme that we are building.
The same discount will apply to the Acorns course as well this year making it £5 per month. The adage of “from little acorns grow mighty oaks” and we see this as creating a development pathway to which we will be seeking support throughout the year.
To try and integrate more and more people into playing the game and meeting people, I have set up a forum on your Intelligent Golf website. Under the “MY GOLF” tab if you scroll down you will see a topic called “FORUM” click on this and you will find a heading “Need a partner to play?” here you can create a message to look for a playing partner.
e.g; “ Hi there my name is Peter, my handicap is 13 and I am looking for playing partners for both general play and competitions on Wednesdays and Saturdays” you can of course add your contact details if you wish or simply message them through the message system also under the same tab of MY GOLF.
Thursday night events for April!
I will be looking to organise a 9 hole play and eat, mixed golf competition with a themed food offering and we are thinking the first one will be an Italian night? Watch out for the date and menu!
In addition we will be having a quiz night on Thursday 25th April hosted by myself and Ann-Marie who works in Events.
That’s all for this month folks, see you on the course!
