Second Round of Central Otago Inter-club Played
The second round of the 2019 Central Otago Inter-club competition was played, at Alexandra Golf Club, on Saturday 23rd of March.
Cromwell won the round with a net aggregate 366 for their 5 counting rounds.
Lake Hawea had taken full advantage of the home venue for the first round, meaning that their 5th placing score of 376 was still good enough to keep them at the top of the leader board.
The surprise result of the day was Wanaka recording 389, an average of net 77.8 per player to finish at the bottom of the field. Wanaka have won the competition for the past two years and were strongly placed in second position, just 6 shots behind Lake Hawea, after the first round.
With 6 rounds still to play and lead swings of 20 strokes in a round quite common, the 2019 title is still in reach of all 8 teams. Eleven strokes separate the first 4 teams.
The next round is at Dunstan and with their team in 3rd place, only 6 shots behind the leaders, they will be looking to grab the top slot on home turf.
