SAN ANTONIO – The Kansas Wesleyan men's golf team opened the spring portion of its schedule at the San Antonio Shootout, hosted by Oklahoma City University and Our Lady of the Lake University at the TPC San Antonio on Monday and Tuesday.

The Coyotes, who have had minimal chances to play an actual round of golf this spring due to the nearly continual winter weather conditions that have plagued the region, finished 11th in the final team standings after Tuesday's second round.

Wesleyan had a team score of 652 (327-325), five shots behind Sterling, but the Coyotes were six shots better than St. Thomas-Texas.

Leading the way for the Coyotes was Logan Vacca (JR/Coffeyville, Kan.), tying for 17th with a 157 (75-82). Ben Hadden (SR/Shawnee Mission, Kan.) tied for 28th with a 160 (82-78), Coleman Houk (SR/Lawrence, Kan.) tied for 35th with a 162 (86-76), Troy Watson (JR/Coffeyville, Kan.) tied for 67th with a 173 (84-89), and Sam Flinn (SR/Mankato, Kan.) was 77th with a 190 (100-90).

Oklahoma City was the team champion with a 602 (301-301), winning by 16 shots over Texas Wesleyan. Oklahoma City's Jack Madden was the individual champion, carding a 146 (71-75), 2-over-par, to win by five shots over teammate Peri'Don Castille and Texas Wesleyan's Declan Kelly.

Up next for the Coyotes is the Eagle Golf Classic, hosted by Oklahoma Wesleyan, next Monday and Tuesday at Hillcrest Country Club in Bartlesville, Okla.
