[Golf] Men's Golf Competes in 9th Annual Winter Invitational

BRUNSWICK, GA - The St. Andrews men's golf team traveled to Brunswick, Georgia this week to compete in the 9th Annual Winter Invitational hosted by the College of Coastal Georgia. The tournament was hosted at the Brunswick Country Club with a Par 72.
ROUND 1
The first day of the Invitational was played on Monday, February 11th. St. Andrews was led by Yusuke Niwa (SO/Nagoya, Japan) who tied for 4th out of 77 golfers. Niwa hit an impressive 71 on Round 1, tying with a Coastal Georgia golfer with one stroke under par.
Andreas Pirc (JR/Hartheim, Germany) also had a strong day for the Knights, shooting a 72 on the day, collecting an even par. Pirc was tied with four others at the ninth spot. Senior Alberto Firpi (SR/Puerto Rico) finished Round 1 with a score of 79, nine-over par and senior Kaleb Measimer (SR/Concord, NC) shot for 90, 18-over par.
ROUND 2
Niwa continued to lead the Knights on Day 2, hitting 81 on the day to collect a 20th place finish out of 77 men. Alberto Firpi also shot for 81 on Round 2, finishing the tournament with a 79-81 (160). Collecting 44th place was junior Andreas Pirc completing the tournament 72-84 with a 156.
The St. Andrews men's golf team finished 13th of out 14 teams and will next compete on February 17th-19th at the Georgetown Invite in St. Augustine, FL.
