Phil Mickelson wins Pebble Beach Pro-Am for fifth time, eyes U.S. Open in June
PEBBLE BEACH — This “round” was quick, clinical, uneventful. Phil Mickelson, the master of thrill rides in golf, closed out his fifth AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am victory with impressive efficiency and oh-so-little drama.
Mickelson made par on No. 17 and birdie on No. 18 on Monday morning. That was more than enough to complete his three-stroke victory in this year’s weather-delayed Pro-Am.
He finished at 19-under-par, safely clear of Paul Casey. Mickelson and Casey didn’t finish the final round Sunday — thanks to two separate delays totaling more than three hours — so they returned to Pebble to resume play Monday at 8 a.m., on a spectacularly sunny and crisp morning (temperature of 40 degrees).
They were done 32 minutes later.
