Larry Fitzgerald plays football for a living — but he’s consumed by golf
Larry Fitzgerald, at age 13, was skeptical about golf. He found the game too slow. Then Tiger Woods came to Fitzgerald’s home state of Minnesota for a clinic and literally placed his hands on a club, showing him the proper grip — and young Larry’s interest started to grow.
Now, at 35 and still tormenting NFL secondaries as an Arizona Cardinals wide receiver, his interest borders on outright obsession.
Fitzgerald returns to the Monterey Peninsula this week seeking an encore to last year’s AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. He and Kevin Streelman won the pro-am competition last February, abruptly spreading the news of Fitzgerald’s passionate hobby.
Then, on Jan.
