Hi all – I would appreciate your thinking on following:
In a club close to mine, there is a red penalty area which runs parallel to the green.
From time to time, there are balls landing in this penalty area and – depending on the entrance - it is not possible to apply any of the options of R 17.1d(2).
Consequently, for practical reasons and in order to save time (to avoid that a player would have to walk back more than 100 meters to apply R 17.1d(1)), the club has established a LR behind the green which, depending of the Reference point, could permit the player to drop slightly closer to the hole than the Reference point.
Is that ok?
If not, what would be your solution?
Thanks – JMC
