[Women's Golf] Trevecca Women's Golf | 2018 MCI Day One Results: Rachael McMahan Tied for 2nd

OLD HICKORY, Tenn. – The Trevecca Nazarene University Women's Golf team is 11th of 20 teams at their own 2018 Music City Invitational at Old Hickory Country Club.

 

Rachael McMahan shot a one-under-par 71 making her the second Trojan to shoot an under par round in the competition. Alexa Rippy did it four times including a school record three-under-par 69 at the Cumberland Phoenix Invite during the 2016-2017 season. McMahan previous low round came at the 2017-2018 G-MAC Fall Invite when she recorded an even-par-72. McMahan is now tied with Kaylon King for second on the Trojans list for the most career par or better round. Alexa Rippy is first with second par or better career rounds.

Rachael McMahan is tied for the lowest score on the par four holes at two-under-par (3.80). McMahan is tied for the third best score on the par five holes with a one-under-par (4.75) score. Sophie Vinson is tied for sixth in the field with a one-under-par (2.75) total on the par three holes. Lexie Shaw finished 10th on the par four holes (two-over-par/4.20) and 13th on the par five holes (even par/5.00).

 

Rachael McMahan shot her lowest score of the year. Valarie Vargas produced her second-lowest career round. There is optimism for Tuesday knowing many of the team will rebound with a better score on day two. The anticipation is derived from the fact that the rest of the team shot one of if not their highest round of the fall.

 

Rachael McMahan finished third in the field with four birdies and ninth in the field with 11 pars. Lexie Shaw finished 19th in the field with two birdies and 15th with ten pars.

 

TREVECCA TEAM

The Trojans are 11th in the strong field with a 326. The 326 is the second highest round of the fall season. Trevecca shot a 333 in the second round of the G-MAC Fall Invite.  

 

TOURNAMENT FIELD REPORT

Grand Valley State University leads the field with a 297 while the University of Indianapolis is second with a 301. Two fellow Great Midwest members are ahead of the Trojans. Tiffin University is third overall  Malone is ninth with a 321. Other Great Midwest members in the field are Walsh University (16th/337) and Alderson Broaddus University (20th/360).

 

The only golfer with a better round than Trevecca's Rachael McMahan is Pilar Echeverria of the University of Indianapolis with a two-under-par 70. Alice Putoud of Tiffin University   

 

WHAT'S NEXT

The fall schedule concludes with the Trojans final round of the 2018 Music City Invitational at the Old Hickory Country Club on Tuesday, October 23.
