[Men's Golf] Trevecca Men's Golf | Trojans Strong Performance @ APSU Intercollegiate

DICKSON, Tenn. – The Trevecca Nazarene University men's golf team finished third (291-280=571) of 10 teams after two rounds at the 2018 F&M Bank APSU Intercollegiate. The 36-hole event was hosted by Austin Peay State University.

 

Ryan Rozic is the top Trojan, finishing tied for 7th in the 66 individual field.

Larken Whittemore is now second all-time with 19 par or better rounds in his career following today's one-under-par 71. Blain Turner is third on the list with 17.

 

Ryan Rozic tied for the 11th best 36-hole total in program history.

 

The team score of 280 in the second round ties the school-record for the second best 18-hole total.

 

The team total of 571 for the 36-hole event is the second-best in program history. The 2017-2018 team shot a 553 at last year's Mississippi College Invite.

 

Four Trojans shot under par rounds in the second round. Three Trojans finished the 36-hole event under par.

 

Trevecca finished first in the field with a two-under total (3.96) score on the par four holes, second on the par five holes at seven-under-par (4.65), and third with a 3.15 average on the par three holes

 

Blain Turner led the field with a two-under-par (2.50) score on the par three holes. Ryan Rozic led the field with a three-under-par (3.70) performance on the par four holes. Conner Conkel tied for the second-best score, three-under-par (4.25), on the par five holes.

 

Blain Turner finished with the sixth most birdies (5) for the 36-hole event.

 

The Trojans finished just four strokes off the pace of the winning score of Belmont University (567). The Trojans shot 291-280=571.

The Trojans turned in their best performance of the season shooting a 280 in the second round as a team.

Larken Whittemore: recorded lowest 36-hole result of the year 

Blain Turner: recorded best 36-hole result of the year 

Conner Conkel: scored best 36-hole result of the year, his 71 in the second round is his best round of the year

Wyatt Samuels: turned in the best 36-hole result of his career

Ryan Rozic: turned in his best 36-hole of career, his 69 in the second round of his career

 

TOURNAMENT FIELD REPORT

Belmont finished as the team champion with a 290-277=567.

 

The individual Medalist is Kyle Slattery of Southern Illinois University- Edwardsville who led the way with a 67-69=136.
