Trump has yet to make a profit off of his Scottish golf resorts

President Trump's two golf courses in Scotland posted a combined loss of $6.07 million in 2017, new filings in the United Kingdom show.

The Trump Organization has poured more than $196 million into the golf courses but has not yet made a profit, the Los Angeles Times reports. Trump purchased the 800-acre Turnberry property in 2014, and lost $4.42 million last year, while Trump's resort near Aberdeen, which opened in 2012, lost $1.65 million. To cut costs there, the Trump Organization has reduced its staff.

Last year, Eric Trump said running a golf course in Scotland is "competitive and challenging, factors that can be heightened by adverse weather conditions." His father is not popular in Scotland, and during his last visit he was greeted by protesters. Before he became president, he also clashed with Aberdeen locals over their concerns that his golf course would harm the environment. If plans to expand the resort are approved, the Trump Organization said it will spend $196.3 million to build 500 homes, 50 vacation cottages, equestrian facilities, shops, and sports facilities, using its own financing.
