[Men's Golf] Mustangs Tie for Third at The Mid-South Classic
Newton, Kan. - The Mustangs took a road trip south to compete in The Mid-South Classic at Sand Creek Station Golf Course. The tournament was hosted by the 2018 NAIA reining champions, Oklahoma City Stars. The field of nine teams would play 36 holes on Monday followed by 18 on Tuesday. The Mustangs finished in a tie for third place with a team score of 893 behind the lead of Will Bruyeres (SR/Brisbane, Australia), who finished in third with a 54-hole score of 216 (E).
Also finishing in the top 20 for the Mustangs was Philip Nelson (JR/Parker, Colo.) (JR/Parker, Colo.) (223/T-15th) and Thomas Schuhkraft (SR/Melbourne, Australia) (SR/Melbourne, Australia) (224/T-18th). Nile Happel (SO/Cedar Rapids, Iowa) (231/T-31st) and Kaleb Hagge (FR/Morning Sun, Iowa) (243/44th) would round out the team scores.
Oklahoma City University would claim their own tournament with an eight-over par score of 872. Following behind the Stars were Murray State College (891), Mount Mercy University (893), Sterling College (893), Kansas Wesleyan University (898), Wayland Baptist University (900), William Woods University (902), Culver-Stockton College (917), and Grand View University (960).
Next, the Mustangs will host a one-day tournament this Friday, Sept. 28 starting at noon. The True North Shootout will be held at the Amana Colonies Golf Course in Amana, Iowa.
