[Men's Golf] Trevecca Men's Golf | Trojans Finish 6th @ Doc Spraggs Invite
FINDLAY, OH. – The Trevecca Nazarene University men's golf team finished sixth at the rained shortened (36 holes) Doc Spragg Invitational hosted by the University of Findlay. Monday's first two rounds were played in a constant rain and Tuesday's final round of 18 canceled after heavier rains developed this morning.
The Trojans (592) finished 18 strokes back of the tournament champion and Division II powerhouse, University of Indianapolis (574).
Blain Turner is the low Trojan finishing in a tie for 15th with a 75-70=145.
The 592 Trevecca team score is the 13th best 36-hole total in program history.

MONDAY: RESULTS
The teams completed the first two rounds on Monday (36 holes) with the final round of 18-holes canceled on Tuesday. The decision shortens the even to 36-holes instead of the 54-hole event previously scheduled.
TROJAN INDIVIDUAL LEADERBOARD
First Round:
Larken Whittemore (SR/Lafayette, TN) finished tied for fourth (4) scoring on the par four holes in Monday's first round. Whittemore shot even par on the par four holes. Whittemore's six birdies on the opening 18 tied him for first in the field. Ryan Rozic (JR/Melbourne, FL) tied for the fourth (4) most pars with 16 on the first 18-holes of the event. Rozic shot even par on the par three holes, good enough to tie for third-lowest average in the field over the first 18 holes.
Day 1 (36-hole totals):
Blain Turner finished tied for 15th shooting a two-under in the second 18 holes. Turner used five birdies to secure his spot as the top Trojan. Larken Whittemore finished tied for 19th shooting a 71-75=146. Whittemore was aided by 12 even or birdie holes in the last 18. Ryan Rozic placed tied for 35th with a 75-74=149. Rozic shot even par for all but two of his final 18 holes today. Conner Conkel (SO/Atlanta, GA) concluded with an 83-72=155 outing. Conkel relied on four birdies to keep him even with par in the final 18 holes. Wyatt Samuels (FR/Clarksville, TN) rounded out the Trojans effort with an 80-76=156. Samuels shot a birdie on the first hole and followed up with an eagle on hole four to finish his second round.
TREVECCA TEAM
First Round:
TNU finished 10th overall after shooting a 301 in the morning round. Larken Whittemore recorded the low Trojan score with a one-under 71 to place third overall. The 75 by Blain Turner and Ryan Rozic tied them for 33rd overall after the first round.
Day 1 (36-hole totals):
TNU finished tied for 6th overall after shooting 10 strokes better (291) than their morning round … The 291 second round combined with the first-round total of 301 gives them a 592-overall score … the Trojans are tied in 6th place with host Findlay at 592, but fared better than fellow G-MAC schools, Tiffin (599) and Malone (604) …
TOURNAMENT FIELD REPORT
Mitchell White of Grand Valley State is the tournament Medalist after a three-under-par 69 second round. White shot a 72-69=141 for the day ... the University of Indianapolis won the event with a 288-286=574 ... Grand Valley finished second with a 292-283=575
WHAT'S NEXT
The rest of the fall schedule includes the Midwest Regional at the Fox Run Golf Club in Eureka, MO October 8-9. The fall season concludes with play in the Austin Peay State University Invitational at the Greystone Golf Course in Dickson, TN October 15-16.
