Tiger Woods likely to skip PGA Tour event in Napa (again)
Don’t expect to see Tiger Woods in Napa anytime soon.
Woods is unlikely to play in next month’s PGA Tour event at Silverado Resort, his agent Mark Steinberg said in an e-mail to The Chronicle. Steinberg cited “all the golf” Woods has played this season and will play the next two weeks, leading into the Safeway Open (Oct. 4-7).
This extends Woods’ annual tap-dance with the tournament. He’s obligated to make an appearance in Napa, given a long-ago agreement with the tour, but this much-anticipated start keeps getting pushed back.
Woods seized a share of the lead with Thursday’s opening-round 65 at the Tour Championship in Atlanta.
