[Men's Golf] Men's Golf Travels to Golden Bear Classic Hosted by West Virginia Tech
The Brescia University Men's Golf Team traveled to Daniels, West Virginia to compete in the Golden Bear Classic hosted by West Virginia Tech. BU finished 5th in the 12 team field as they dropped from third place to fifth after day ones play. The Bearcats were led by freshman Ryan Howard with rounds of 76/80 in the rain soaked conditions of the Cobb Course at the Glade Resort. Congratulations to Ryan in finishing T-9th overall in his first collegiate event. Trevor Brown fired rounds of 82-77, Steven Zehr 83-76, and Daniel Steele with 83-83. Parker Brown shot 80 in round one; however, was unable to compete in round two due to a nagging wrist injury. Coach Cox says, "For the most part, we struggled with ball striking and short game for certain. Losing Parker for round two was a big loss, he has been on good form lately and with a little time and therapy should be back to normal in no time."
The Bearcats look to pick up the pieces and as they head to the Conference Preview Tournament at the Belterra Resort in Indiana next Monday and Tuesday. With a roster change by taking Parker out of the lineup, the Bearcats look to improve on last year's preview when they finished 5th in the 12 team field.
