[Men's Golf] Mustangs Finish Fourth at The Warrior Challenge
Moravia, Iowa - With one tournament under their belts, the Mount Mercy Men's Golf Team traveled to compete in The Warrior Challenge at The Preserve on Rathbun Lake. The tournament was hosted by the 2018 NJCAA Division 1 reining champions, Indian Hills CC. The competitive field of teams would play 36 holes on Monday followed by 18 on Tuesday. After all was said and done, the Mustangs finished in fourth place with a team score of 868 behind the lead of Will Bruyeres, who finished in a tie for third with a 54-hole score of 207 (-9).
Also finishing in the top 20 for the Mustangs was Thomas Schuhkraft (SR/Melbourne, Australia) (SR/Melbourne, Australia) (220/15th), Nile Happel (SO/Cedar Rapids, Iowa) (SO/Cedar Rapids, Iowa) (221/T-16th), and Philip Nelson (JR/Parker, Colo.) (JR/Parker, Colo.) (222/19th). Kaleb Hagge (FR/Morning Sun, Iowa) would round out the team with a 227 taking 25th place.
Indian Hills CC dominated their home tournament with a 34-under par score of 830. Following behind the Warriors were Iowa Western CC (863), Kirkwood CC (865), Mount Mercy University (868), William Penn University (870), and Southwestern CC (952).
Up next, the Mustangs will travel to Newton, Kansas to compete in the Mid-South Classic hosted at Sand Creek Station Golf Course next Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 24-25.
