[Women's Golf] Mustangs, Noble Capture Clarke Fall Invitational Title
Galena, Ill. - The Mount Mercy Women's Golf Team collected another piece of hardware this weekend. The Mustangs battled the challenging South Course at Eagle Ridge Resort in Galena, Illinois and won. After day one, the Mustangs would sit atop the leaderboard with a team score of 339. Not letting up on the second day, the Mustangs would run away with the team title behind the lead of Casey Noble (FR/Morning Sun, Iowa) who earned medalist honors. Noble would shoot a day-one 80 and follow up with a second round of 81.
Two additional golfers finished in the top 10 for the Mustangs. Allyson Wertz (JR/Kalona, Iowa) (JR/Kalona, Iowa) placed eight with a two-day score of 174. Natalia Cook ended in 10th place with a 176. Also scoring for the Mustangs was Kayla Stammer (JR/Vermillion, S.D.) (JR/Vermillion, S.D.) (178/T-11th) and Cheyenne Broquard (JR/Bloomington, Ill.) (JR/Bloomington, Ill.) (179/T-13th).
With Mount Mercy taking the title, University of Dubuque would come in second with a 707 team score followed by Saint Ambrose University (712), Viterbo University (727), University of Wisconsin-Platteville (793), Clarke University (807), and Loras College (815).
Up next, the Mustangs will travel to Oskaloosa, Iowa to compete in the William Penn Invitational hosted at Edmundson Golf Course next Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 24-25.
