[Men's Golf] Men's Golf Competes at Murray State Invitational
The Brescia University Men's Golf Team competed in the Murray State Invitational on Sept 10th and 11th. The 12 team field was made up by mainly NCAA Divison one schools at the Miller Memorial Course in Murray KY. The Bearcats were led by Steven Zehr firing rounds of 72,76 and a Brescia University record of 65 in the final round for a 13th place overall finish. Trevor Brown finished with scores of 72,77,77. Daniel Steele with 81,72,77. Parker Brown with 78,79,79. Chance England 80,81,77. With a team score of (902) 302, 304, and 296 the Bearcats finished 10th in the 12 team field edging out Hannibal-Lagrange University and Bethel University. As a team overall the Bearcats struggled with their short game and putting.
Coach Jason Cox said, " With any 54 hole tournament in two days is always going to be a grind physically, however, we will take a lot of positives away from competing against NCAA schools as we get better. As a team we are on the verge of playing some really great team golf. With managing the course conditions along with putting, we are more than capable of going much lower than we are currently."
While competition is tough to make the travel team at this point, the Bearcats look to round into form with a solid week of practice before traveling to West Virginia Tech to play next Monday and Tuesday.
