[Women's Golf] Trevecca Women's Golf | Trojans Fifth after Day 1 @ Screaming Eagles Invite
EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The Trevecca Nazarene University women's golf team is fifth of 12 teams after day one of the first full tournament of the year. The Trojans are playing in the University of Southern Indiana (USI) 23rd Annual Screaming Eagles Classic Sunday and Monday.
TROJAN INDIVIDUAL LEADERBOARD
Rachael McMahan is ninth of 74 with her Trojan best opening round 77. Lexie Shaw turned in a 78 and is 12th overall. Sophie Vinson opened her sophomore campaign with an 85 as did Brynn Craven. Valeria Vargas shot an 88 in her collegiate debut to round out the official team contributions. Two Trojans, Teagan Perry and Madalyn Hembree, are competing as individuals. Perry is in 20th place with an 81 and Hembree is 28th with an 84.
TREVECCA TEAM REPORT
Trevecca's 325 places them four back of tournament host USI (324) for fourth.
TOURNAMENT FIELD REPORT
Madison Hill of Lewis University leads the field with a four-under-par 68. Lewis leads the team category with an opening round 304. Maryville is second (315) and McKendree (319) is third.

EVENT DETAILS
The 23rd Annual Screaming Eagles Classic returns to the Cambridge Golf Course for the 13th consecutive year. The two-day event consists of 36-hole is playing to a par of 72 over 5862 yards.
There are 12-teams in the field: Nine GLVC (Great Lakes Valley) teams – Southern Indiana, Bellarmine University, Lewis University, Maryville University, McKendree University, Missouri S&T, Quincy University, Rockhurst University, and William Jewell College and two Great Midwest members Kentucky Wesleyan College and Trevecca. John A. Logan CC is also playing.
COACH HEAD SAID
"The conditions were challenging today, but our team believes they left some strokes on the course. We are preparing for a better result on Monday regardless of the conditions. We are a veteran team now and know to expect college golf often brings challenging conditions. Monday presents another opportunity for the team enjoy the fruits of their practice and training."
GREYSTONE WARMUP
The Trojans are coming off a victory in the 2018 Greystone Cup, beating Union University. The Greystone Cup is a match-play style event conducted Thursday and Friday at the Greystone Golf Course in Dickson, TN.
WHAT'S NEXT
The Trojans play next in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Fall Tournament at the Otter Creek Golf Club in Columbus, IN September 17-18. The rest of the fall schedule includes the East Region Preview at The Pearl Club in Owensboro, KY on October 13-14. The fall schedule concludes with the Trojans hosting the Music City Invitational at the Old Hickory Country Club on October 22-23.
