[Men's Golf] Zimbelman Wins BCU Invite; Tigers Place 2nd

­­With rains in southeast Nebraska over the past weekend, Doane Men's Golf was forced out of co-hosting their tournament and moved north to participate in the Briar Cliff Invite, which was created due to the Blue River Classic being cancelled. Doane placed 2nd with a team score of 294 with the Tiger "B" team placing 3rd with a 296, and the "C" team taking 7th with a 316.

Playing at Two Rivers GC, Doane's Kyle Zimbelman (FR/North Platte, Neb.) walked away with medalist honors as he shot a 3-under par, 67. His round is tied for second lowest in the Doane record books which date back to 2006-07 and the lowest for a single-day, 18-hole tournament.

JR Kanemura (JR/Lodi, Calif.) posted a round of 73 to tie for 6th. Roger Sack (JR/Lincoln, Neb.) shot a 75 to tie for 11th. Takuma Yamashita (SO/Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif.) was tied for 22nd with a 79 and Berkeley Meppem (JR/Okotoks, Alberta) placed 32nd with an 83.

The "B" team was led by the duo of Ty Crandon (FR/Lincoln, Neb.) and Micah Ramirez (FR/Loveland, Colo.) as they posted rounds of 73 to tie for 6th. Jack Schoenborn (SO/Castle Pines, Colo.) tied for 9th with a round of 74. Cody Starman (SR/Strasburg, Colo.) shot a 76 to tie for 14th and Chase Largen (FR/Creighton, Neb.) tied for 22nd with a 79.

Nick Christiansen (JR/Fairbury, Neb.) and Trey Denno (JR/Hesston, Kan.) tied for 19th with scores of 78 to lead the "C" team. Eric Charbonneau (JR/Farragut, Iowa) posted a 79 to tie for 22nd. Hayden Fry (SO/Colorado Springs, Colo.) tied for 29th with a round of 81 and Jared Williamson (JR/Hamburg, Iowa) shot an 86 to tie for 35th.

Briar Cliff won the tournament with a team score of 291, three shots ahead of Doane.
