[Women's Golf] 2018 Ladies Bearcat Invitational

0 23

Over the weekend the Lady Bearcat Golf Team competed in tough conditions at the Pearl Club finishing runner up to Oakland City University. Hallie Hinton from Oakland City University won Medalist honors after firing 82-81 with Brandi Jones from IU Kokomo finishing two shots behind.  The Lady Bearcats were led by freshman Emily Lyons who finished 3 shots back with a 166 finish (81-85). Freshman Brooklyn Spicer (aka ACE) made her second hole in one as a Lady Bearcat in round one of her first collegiate golf tournament on the 16th hole using a 5-iron to make her second hole in one in the last five weeks. She went on to finish T-4 for the tournament. Brooklyn is the first Bearcat Golfer to make a hole in one in a tournament, congrats on this great accomplishment.

Brooke Hattabaugh and Meredith Mayes tied for 8th place overall with a score of 175 as they are both on the verge of playing some really good golf. Brooke shot a career low 83 the first day and will build on this solid play moving forward. Makenzie Moore finished in 10th place as she continues to improve her game along with position on the leaderboard with consistent driving and iron play. Jaime Jolley and Allie Holeman rounded out the Bearcat squad with 18th and 19th place finishes at 185 and 188. Coach Cox said, "We took a lot of positives out of this weekend as we build on the momentum going forward. They played hard in tough weather conditions on a difficult golf course. That will do nothing but help as we move forward into this fall season."

The Lady Bearcats travel later this week to Richmond, IN as they take on the Lady Red Wolves at IU East.
