U.S. Women’s Amateur: Lucy Li wins twice; Yealimi Noh eliminated
Lucy Li won two matches Thursday to reach the quarterfinals of the U.S. Women’s Amateur in Tennessee, but fellow Bay Area golfer Yealimi Noh was ousted in a 23-hole match in the round of 32.
Li, the history-making 15-year-old from Redwood City, lived up to her No. 1 match play seeding by beating Alice Duan of Reno 7-and-5 at the Golf Club of Tennessee in Kingston Springs in the morning. She returned in the afternoon to to get past Taiwan’s Ya Chun Chang 2-and-1.
Duan didn’t win a hole as Li birdied four of the first. On Tuesday, Li — already the youngest competitor to play in the Women’s Amateur (when she was 10) and qualify for the Women’s U.S.
