Sunday at The Open should rule. Here’s a viewing guide for the day.

Tiger Woods is in contention at the 147th Open.

The Open Championship finishes on Sunday at Carnoustie. There’s never a time when Sunday at this tournament isn’t great, but this year has even more juice than usual.

Players begin to tee off at 3 a.m. ET. Golf Channel starts its TV broadcast at 4:30 a.m. ET, and NBC takes over at 7 a.m. ET through the duration of the round. Tiger Woods tees off at 9:25 a.m. with Francesco Molinari in the third-to-last group. The last group, with Jordan Spieth and Xander Schauffele, goes from the first tee at 9:45 a.m. ET.

Defending champion Spieth is the favorite to win and repeat. He finished the third round among three players tied for the lead at 9 under for the week. The others, Schauffele and Kevin Kisner, are both seeking their first major win. Spieth’s hunting his fourth, days before his 25th birthday on Friday. But somehow, he’s not the primary story here.

Woods is. He’s on the prowl for his 15th major, and for the first time in a lot of years, he has a credible chance to win it. He was superb on Saturday, carding a 5-under 66 to vault himself into contention, among seven players tied at four back of the leaders. It’s not clear how the course and conditions will shape up for the final round, but he’s going to have to play at the same caliber he did Saturday and maybe even make one or two more putts.

There’s nothing in golf quite like Woods in contention on Sunday at a major. It hasn’t happened seriously since the 2013 Open at Muirfield, where he finished tied for sixth, five shots back of winner Phil Mickelson. He entered that Sunday two shots back of then-leader Lee Westwood, who promptly ejected on the last day and finished four back.

Woods has never won a major when he didn’t have at least a share of the lead after 54 holes. It’ll be a huge lift to get it done here, but the mere act of being in the hunt is thrilling.

Zooming out a bit, the leaderboard’s still wide-open. Two multi-major champions, Rory McIlroy and Zach Johnson, were tied with Woods after 54 holes. Single-major winners Justin Rose and Adam Scott were only a shot back of that group, and plenty of guys without any majors to their name closed Saturday with a shot. This is going to be good.
