Concord teen sets scoring record at Girls Junior PGA
Yealimi Noh’s roll through the Girls Junior PGA Championship picked up speed Wednesday when the Concord teen posted a personal-best 8-under 64 to establish a 54-hole tournament record.
Noh finished three rounds at Kearney Hill Golf Links in Lexington, Ky., at 21-under, her total of 195 breaking the year-old record set by Rose Zhang by five shots.
Zhang, the defending champion, shot a third-round 67 and — along with Alexa Melton — is at 14-under.
Noh, 16, birdied her first three holes Wednesday and went on to complete a third-straight bogey-free round. She has been particularly good on the par-5s, with birdies on 11 of the 12 she’s played.
