Spirit of Dad came to golf course in Novato

This year’s member-guest Big Splash invitational golf tournament at the Marin Country Club in Novato was on Saturday, June 16, the day before Father’s Day. It was also the one-year anniversary of the death of longtime member Mike Laughlin, who had often participated in the event with his son, Joe. Moved by the coincidence of the date, Joe ordered personalized golf balls for the occasion, imprinted with his father’s nickname, “Locko.”

He was playing with one of them that day when he got a hole-in-one, his first ever after years of golfing. What will he do with the ball? “I’m not going to lose it,” said Laughlin.
