Let's applaud a good sport in women's golf: Ariya Jutanugarn

0

This year's U.S. Open tournaments — our country's national championships — included several lessons for young golfers. First, don't get frustrated and hit your ball before it stops on the green. So unprofessional and deserving of a disqualification. Thanks for the teachable moment, Phil.

But the best lesson came during the U.S. Women's Open a week earlier when Ariya Jutanugarn applauded her opponent Hyo Joo Kim during a playoff.
Commentator and acclaimed PGA Tour player Paul Azinger criticized her, got ripped on Twitter and stood his ground.
"It was the least competitive thing I'd ever seen," he said. "She still had to hit a putt. Let the competition conclude then show all the sportsmanship in the world.
