Stanford women lose in NCAA semifinals
The Stanford women’s golf team advanced to the NCAA semifinals in Stillwater, Okla., on Tuesday, but the Cardinal then fell short in their bid for a second national championship.
Stanford, which beat Northwestern 3-2 in the quarterfinals Tuesday morning, fell to Arizona 4-1 in the semifinals. The Wildcats will face Alabama in the final after the Crimson Tide defeated USC in the other semifinal.
“I’m very proud of this team and what we were able to accomplish this season,” Stanford coach Anne Walker said. “This morning against Northwestern, our putts were falling and we navigated the course well. Making putts is the key to match play, and we weren’t able to do that as well against Arizona.
