[Golf] Coy, Strickland leading Jaguars after Day 1 at PGA Minority
PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. – The University of Houston-Victoria men's golf team got off to a strong start in defending its PGA Minority Golf Championship title on Friday, while the UHV women's team is in seventh place after the opening day of play at the PGA Golf Club.
Juan David Coy (JR/Bucaramanga, Colombia) posted the top score of the day with a 3-over par 75 and Terry Strickland (SO/Missouri City, TX) followed a shot back at 76 to give the Jaguars a nine shot lead going into Saturday's second round in the NAIA Division. The Jaguars, who have won the tournament three of the last four years, posted a 307 score to lead Governor's State University who is in at 316.
