[Men's Golf] Trevecca Men's Golf | Two Trojans Make 2018 NCAA D2 Regional Championships

INDIANAPOLIS - The NCAA announced a field of 80 teams and 32 student-athletes competing as individuals at the regional competition of the 2018 NCAA Division II Men's Golf Championships. Trevecca's Blain Turner and Larken Whittemore were selected as one of the 32 individuals to make the field.

For the two Trojans, they will be playing at the Central/Midwest Super Regional at the Findlay (Ohio) Country Club May 7-9.

At a minimum, the top three teams and the top two student-athletes not with a team from each regional (regardless of region) will advance to the finals May 21-25, at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail at the Shoals, Fighting Joe Course in Muscle Shoals, Alabama. The remaining eight-team berths will be allocated based on the regions represented in the prior year's head-to-head medal play portion of the championships, with the maximum number of teams from a given region capped at seven. The finals will be hosted by the University of North Alabama.

Turner is the 2018 Great Midwest Athletic Conference Medalist and Whittemore is second only to Turner in the Great Midwest for season scoring average. Turner is averaging 72.00 per round while Whittemore is averaging 72.3.   

Blain Turner, by winning the 2018 Great Midwest Athletic Conference Championships, broke the Trevecca record for wins in a season. Turner has won three tournaments this season. Eight different times a Trojans has collected two wins in a season. Edward Yu, Larken Whittemore, Joey Bradley (3), Payton Williams, Jacob Ward, and Matt Engesath all won two tournaments in a season.

Blain Turner also owns the record for par or better rounds in a season with 11. Two better than Joey Bradley who had nine on two different occasions. Larken Whittemore has eight and is third on the all-time list.

Blain Turner is now third with 61 birdies this season. Joey Bradley tops the season list with 92 (2011-2012) and 66 (2010-2011). Larken Whittemore is sixth on the list with 54 this season.

Larken Whittemore is third on the career list for par or better rounds with 14. Joey Bradley (28) and Payton Williams (15) are ahead of him. In fourth on the list is Blain Turner with his 11 this season.

Larken Whittemore moved to second on the career birdies list with 160. Joey Bradley owns the record with 251. Payton Williams finishes his career third on the list with 159.

Larken Whittemore is one back of Joey Bradley (8) on the career eagles list with seven. He is tied with Payton Williams.

Tournaments will be conducted at four regional sites with regional pairings as follows:
