BOURBONNAIS, Ill. — The Olivet Nazarene University women's golf team is thrilled about its newest addition to the 2018 recruiting class. Head coach Bill Johnson and the Tigers have added Megan Oppenhuis. Oppenhuis is a local talent from Beecher High School.

Megan had a great prep career as she helped lead Beecher to back-to-back IHSA Regional titles. She also was named River Valley All-Conference twice. Her junior and senior seasons she was awarded the Team Leader Award. Oppenhuis finished her junior season with her team's lowest average and she was named Most Improved following her sophomore campaign.

Oppenhuis had much to say about her decision to attend ONU. "First, I chose Olivet because it was a Christian school and then Olivet felt more like home and I made friend connections."

In addition to playing for the Bobcats, Oppenhuis is also very musical. She is a member of the Tri-M Music Honor Society and is the Treasurer Historian. She also placed second in the oboe solo and first place in trio at the IHSA Solo and Ensemble contest her junior year. Megan is also a River Valley Conference Honor Band Participant.

Oppenhuis is currently undecided on her area of study while at Olivet. She is a member of the National Honor Society, Girls Everywhere Meeting the Savior (GEMS) and Counselor in Training (CIT). She also is a Beecher Women's Club tea server, Faith and Action Summer Fest volunteer, Beecher Library Activity Helper and member of Bobcat Pride. Megan is also a Kankakee Valley Youth Symphony Orchestra member.

Megan and her brother, Luke, sister, Madelynee, father, Jason, and mother, Sheila, attend Crete Church in Crete, Illinois.
