Tiger Woods drains 45-foot putt to pull within 1 shot of the lead

0

A relatively boring round is jolted to life on the second-to-last hole.

Tiger Woods’ Sunday round at the Valspar Championship has been a relatively -- relatively! — boring slog. This Innisbrook Course is yielding a bunch of par golf right now and Tiger just could not get anything going on the greens. He made birdie on the first hole of the day and that was it. Until he got to the 17th green.

Woods 44-foot putt pushed him to 9-under and at least gave him a chance to pull even with clubhouse leader Paul Casey, who is at 10-under. After that run of pars, Tiger will now need to finish birdie-birdie just to force a playoff. The fact that he’s at least given himself a chance at the last hole is still hard to fathom given how early we are into this comeback.
