[Men's Golf] Men's Golf Finishes 11th at Spring Break Invite

OPELIKA, Ala. - The St. Andrews University Men's Golf team finished 11th in the 2018 Spring Break Invitational at the Grand National Lake Course in Opelika, AL this past week.

Lawrence Tech University (MI) won the tournament with a total score of 598 while fellow AAC foe SCAD-Atlanta finished 10th at 642. The Knights were then nine strokes back of the Bees in 11th at 651 after shooting a 326 in round one and a 325 in round two.

Senior John Lyle (SR/Goodview, VA) led the Knights with a 39th place finish as he posted the top round of the week for SAU with his first round 77 before shooting an 82 on day two for a 159 (+15). Teammates Yusuke Niwa (FR/Nagoya, Japan) and Blake Bartlett (SO/Goldsboro, NC) then tied for 40th as they shot scores of 160 each to finish just a stroke back of Lyle. Niwa, a freshman, shot 79 on day one and then an 82 in round two while Bartlett, a sophomore, shot 82 in round one and a 78 on day two for the best round of an SAU golfer in that round.

Senior Corey Johnson (SR/Creedmoor, NC) then completed the scoring for the Knights with his rounds of 88 and 84 for a 172 and 64th place finish. Junior Kaleb Measimer (JR/Concord, NC) also competed for the Knights finishing in 71st place at 210.

Jack Clarkson of William Woods (MO) won the tournament with a 140 after rounds of 72 and 68.

St. Andrews will next take to the links on April 2-3 in the AAC Spring Conference championship at the Orchard CC in Clarkesville, GA.
