Rules of Golf discussions and meanings • Misunderstanding over state of match
I am involved in a discussion over this question and answer from my 'Rhodes Rules School' series and am seeking opinions on whether the answer is correct, or not;
BarryQ6: After putting out on the 17th hole player A says, “That means I win our match, 2 and 1”, and opponent B comes over and the two of them shake hands. After both players have left the putting green B realises that the 17th hole was halved, meaning that the state of the match was 1 down with 1 hole to play. It is too late for player B to make a claim for the match to continue. True or False?
A6: True. Rule 2-5. A claim cannot be made after the players have left the putting green of the last hole of the match, unless there were facts previously unknown to the player making the claim and they had been given wrong information.
