[Men's Golf] Trevecca Men's Golf | Shattering Records at MC Invitational, 273 Team, Whittemore 64
MADISON, Miss. – The Trevecca Nazarene University men's golf team opened the spring schedule in record-setting style. The scorched the Lake Caroline Golf Course with a school and Great Midwest Athletic Conference record 273. Larken Whittemore also broke through a long-standing Trevecca and Great Midwest record, shooting an opening round 64. Besting the Trevecca record of 66 set by Trevecca alum Joey Bradley.
The Trojans and Whittemore lead the event after one round. The team is in progress with second-round play at the time of this writing. Whittemore turned in the second lowest
Joey Bradley held the record, posting a 66 twice in his career. Bradley shot a 66 twice during the 2011-2012 season. First in the third round at the Wasioto Winds Fall Kick-off and again in the second round
The team record, also recorded twice, rested at 280. Ironically, the second team 280 round came in the second round at last year's Mississippi College Invitational. The first 280 was recorded 2011-2012 during the second round of the Trevecca Invitational.
The low 18-hole team score in the fall was 293 in the first round of the Dan Salisbury Memorial Collegiate.
Low for Whittemore in the fall was a 72 in the third round of the F&M Bank Austin Peay Intercollegiate. Blaine Turner carded the low individual round for the Trojans in the fall with a three-under 69 in the opening round of the Dan Salisbury Memorial Collegiate.

TREVECCA TEAM
ROUND ONE | Larken Whittemore led the way with an eight-under-par 64, but Blaine Turner turned in the eighth-best round in school history with a four-under-par 64. Payton Williams turned in a two-under-par 70, and the fourth and final counting score was a one-under-par 71 by Trevor Lay. John Leverton shot a 78 to round out the Trojans efforts. Larken Whittemore opened his first round with an eagle and a birdie. He started play on the par five number seven and added a second eagle on the par five number 16. Whittemore had one bogey to go along with five birdies. Payton Williams opened with a birdie playing the par three number eight. Williams also added an eagle on the par-five 495-yard number 16. Turner carded seven birdies.

ROUND ONE | As a team, Trevecca led Delta State by ten strokes. Delta State is ranked No. 29 in the current NCAA Division II standings. Spring Hill College is third at one-under par and 14 back of the Trojans.
