[Men's Golf] Men's Golf Competition Cut Short at San Antonio Shootout

0

San Antonio, Texas – The Grand View University men's golf team competed in the San Antonio Shootout on February 26th and 27th. The event took place at TPC San Antonio Canyon and Oaks Courses. 4 of the 14 teams in attendance were ranked in the Top-25 in the NAIA Coaches' Poll with 2 more teams, including the Vikings who received votes.

Grand View's participation in the competition was unfortunately cut short. The event faced a 3.5-hour delay due to heavy fog before the Vikings were able to start their third round. With a few members of the team facing important exams and their inability to change their transportation plans after exhaustive efforts, the team was forced to withdraw from competition before completing their final round.

The Vikings had positioned themselves in the middle of the pack through the second round, sitting at 7th place.

Mitch Pfingsten (SR/Fairmont, Minnesota) led the Vikings atop the leaderboard. Pfingsten shot a 149 (73-76) for his first two rounds. Devon Woody (SR/Reasonor, Iowa) and Sachin Gupta (JR/Grimes, Iowa) followed closely behind. Both players shot a 150 with Woody shooting 74 and 76 and Gupta going for double 75's.

Oklahoma City sat atop the team leaderboard with an overall score of 870 (288-289-293). Andrew Williamson of Wayland Baptist shot the lowest score for the tournament. Full results can be seen below.
