[Women's Golf] Cavs Shine at Mars Hill Invite
The Montreat College women's golf team traveled to Fletcher's Broodmoor Golf Links to participate in the Mars Hill University Spring Invitational earlier this week. It was the spring opener for the Cavaliers and they showed little ill effect from the winter season as they captured second place overall in the six-team tournament.
"Savannah Kummelman (FR/Plant City, FL) was first round leader (79-85) and Sara Gwillim (JR/Bethalto, IL) (81-82) both finished top five and made the All-Tournament Team," said head coach John Sullivan. "This is Sara's second consecutive top five finish and her 5th top 10 finish and Savannah's first top five. Our team finished second and beat four other NCAA teams. Very exciting."
Gwillim and Kummelman finished third and fourth overall to help stake the Cavs to a second place finish ahead of Mars Hill, Pfeiffer, Capital University, and mountain-region rival, Brevard. Jamie Hubbard, Sydney Fairchild, and Alivia Daniels rounded out the Cavaliers' top-twenty finishers.
Next Up: Montreat hosts the 2018 Cavalier Spring Invitational at Silver Creek Plantation in Morganton on Monday, March 5, and Tuesday, March 6.
