[Golf] Randell's 6th place finish paces Lady Knights in St. Augustine; Lyle paces Men

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. - The St. Andrews University men's and women's Golf teams continued their spring season at Georgetown College's neutral site Invitational at the Slammer & Squire GC in St. Augustine, FL on Monday and Tuesday.

The women finished 7th out of 11 teams and were led by a sixth-place finish from 2017 national qualifier, junior Lydia Randell (JR/Walnut Cove, NC). She paced the Knights with rounds of 78 and a team-best 76 for a 154 (+10) while she was the only Lady Knight to shoot in the 70s all week.

The Lady Knights shot a first day 329 to sit in 6th before also shooting 329 on day two to finish nearly 100 strokes ahead of 10th place AAC rival Reinhardt Univ. (Ga.) and just six shots back of 5th place SCAD-Atlanta's 652. Dalton State (Ga.) won the Invite with a two day score of 621.

Junior Devon Omar (JR/Grovetown, GA) then shot rounds of 81 and 80 to finish in 18th place with a 16, ten strokes better than last week.  Senior Isabelle Sullivan (SR/Fremont, NH) then finished 33rd overall after shooting consistent rounds of 86 and 85 for a 171. Randell, Omar, and Sullivan all improved their scores in round two as well.

Fellow senior Olivia Pruitt (SR/Duncan, OK) then shot round of 84 and 88 to place 36th with a 172 while Freshman Hayley Reed (FR/Concord, NH) also competed and finished 51st after rounds of 98 and 101.

The men then finished 13th at the Georgetown College invite while Coastal Georgia won the tournament with a 579 after shooting a 279 on day one. Fellow AAC school SCAD-Atlanta was 10th with a 616 while SAU shot a first round score of 316 Monday that had them in 12th before shooting 321 on day two to tie Indiana Tech and finish just behind Campbellsville.

Senior John Lyle (SR/Goodview, VA) led the Knights as he shot an impressive first day round of 73 before coming back to the pack some to shoot 80 on day two for a 153 (+9) and 31st place finish. His 73 was the best round of the Knights golfers (men and women) on the week.

Freshman Yusuke Niwa (FR/Nagoya, Japan) then made his season debut by shooting consecutive rounds of 79 for a 158 and 47th place finish while Sophomore Andreas Pirc (SO/Hartheim, Germany) shot 81 and 82 for a 163 and 58th place finish.

Junior Alberto Firpi (JR/Puerto Rico) then improved nicely by six strokes in round two to shoot 80 after his first round 86 to finish 64th with a 166. Sophomore Blake Bartlett (SO/Goldsboro, NC) then shot rounds of 84 and 82 to finish 66th at 167.

The Men are next on the links from March 8-9 at the Grand National GC in Opelika, Ala. While the women have a month off before next competing March 19-20 at the Brenau University Invite at Chattahoochee GC in Gainesville, GA.
