[Men's Golf] Men's Golf Finishes 4th at ACU Spring Invitational
Phoenix, Arizona – The Grand View University men's golf team traveled to the southwest United States to compete in their first invite of the spring semester. The Vikings took to Moon Valley Country Club starting on February 11th for a three-round meet. The Vikings finished the tournament 4th on the leaderboard in a field of 14 teams. There were 6 teams participating that were ranked in the Top-25 in the NAIA Coaches' Poll and 3 others, including Grand View, that are receiving votes.
After the first round, the Vikings sat at 7th-place. They would gain 3 spots with their second round scores. Grand View would hold off the surge from the host school, Arizona Christian, in the final round to hold their 4th-place spot.
Mitch Pfingsten (SR/Fairmont, Minnesota) led the Vikings atop the leaderboard. Pfingsten gained 8 spots on the final day of competition to finish in 8th-place while shooting a 217 (73-74-70) and +1 for the course. Pfingsten accumulated 13 birdies at the invite, which was tied for the second most in the field.
Johnson & Wales won the event with an overall score of 863 (289-284-290). Alex Rainville of Johnson & Wales and Matt Andrews of Embry-Riddle – AZ sat atop the leaderboard at the completion of the ACU Spring Invitational. Full results can be seen below.
