How TV gets those stunning shots at Pebble Beach
If you’ve ever watched the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am on TV, you’ve probably marveled at the amazing footage of Carmel Bay from the golf course. Especially when the weather’s good.
When the weather is stunning — like it is for this year’s tournament — the shots are amazing. Glistening water. Seals lolling in the kelp. Kayakers and paddle boarders out in the waves. Wildflowers and Cypress Tress surrounding the manicured greens.
It’s some of the prettiest footage you’ll ever see.
So, how does CBS get that amazing footage? It’s easy. All you need is a 20-foot camera rig that weighs over 1,000 pounds and swings around like a massive crane.
