Hero World Challenge 2017: Time, TV schedule for Tiger Woods' Round 4
Tiger Woods’ last round for what should be several weeks is a nice compliment to your NFL Sunday.
Sunday will be your last chance to watch Tiger Woods play golf this year. Of course, there weren’t many chances to begin with after his comeback at the start of the year lasted just three rounds. He then took 300 days off, had his back fused, and returned this week to his Hero World Challenge event in the Bahamas.
There have been no signs of health trouble this week. There weren’t really any signs in this event last year, either, and we know how that turned out when he showed back up to his next start at Torrey Pines. But Tiger has looked strong and healthy so far, smashing the ball out there with some of the biggest hitters in the game. That was always the goal this week — simply to stay healthy and be moderately competitive. He’s done both so far and Sunday is another opportunity to do so before closing up shop on the year and figuring out a schedule for next season.
Tiger will play his final round with Justin Thomas, a reprise of their opening round game on Thursday. Woods kept up with JT in that particular round, hitting it out there and both posting 69. That extremely small sample size is not meant to be an indicator that Tiger’s game is anywhere close to Thomas, the reigning player of year, right now. But it was some measure of affirmation and now Sunday presents another chance for that.
Golf Channel and NBC will split the duties for the final round coverage. It’s unusual for a golf tournament to make it all the way up to NBC this time of year, but that’s what the power of Tiger Woods will do. The network covers this because Tiger hosts and usually plays and that’s going to do numbers. And with no NFL commitments until the evening, they’re free and clear for a three-hour afternoon golf broadcast in early December.
