Steve Kerr on Tiger Woods’ comeback: ‘I’m so happy for him’

ORLANDO — Count Warriors head coach Steve Kerr among those keeping close tabs on Tiger Woods’ return to competitive golf.

“I’m so happy for him,” Kerr said after practice Thursday night at Amway Center. “Mainly just because he’s out there playing.”

Woods played a competitive round of golf Thursday for the first time in 301 days, posting a 3-under-par 69 in the first round of the Hero World Challenge. That came just about six weeks after he started hitting balls in earnest.

Woods had a fourth back surgery in April, a DUI arrest stemming from pain medications in May and an ensuing rehab stint to get that issue under control.
