Get a Ruling • Doubt as to procedure
Gentlemen you valued opinions please......Ladies Stroke Play Tournament.
A player hooks her tee shot toward out of bounds and decides to play a provisional and correctly announces the intention. She finds the original ball in bounds in deep rough but in an unplayable lie and decides to proceed under R28b and manages to only advance another 50m or so and still in the first cut of the left hand rough. She now plays a further stroke with what she thought was her original but after playing the stroke sees another ball only 3m away which could be her provisional or even her original as both balls are identical make, number and personal markings. None of the fellow competitors or caddies were able to assist and even the player's caddie was not convinced as to which ball she had now played. Unsure as to which ball she has now played the player now elects to play both balls and let the Committee decide. The player is convinced she played her OB but is not 100% and acknowledges she could have played the PB. A ball spotter on the right hand of the fairway was also unable to assist and although he saw both balls come to rest in the same area he could not say for sure which was which. She scored a 7 with what she 'thought' was the OB and an 8 with the other.
