Rules of Golf discussions and meanings • Re: Wrong Putting Green - interference to stance

It is difficult to imagine a scenario where the stance would have any material bearing on selecting the nearest point of relief .
There may be occasions when you would ask for the direction of play and the club that the player would select to play the shot .- but the reason for this request is only to ensure that the depth / length of the strike/divot made by the club at the nearest point did not strike the green on the follow through ./ backswing.( 3 wood versus wedge)
Certainly there will be many occasions when the player will be standing on the green when simulating and finding the nearest point of relief!
Perhaps you could describe a situation where by the stance is material . I can only envisage taking ball position into account w/hen selecting the nearest point.
