[Women's Golf] Women's Golf Finishes 2nd in Final Tournament in the Fall Season

Lawrence, Kansas – The Grand View University women's golf team competed in the Baker University Fall Preview at the Eagle Bend Golf Course on October 18th and 19th. The Viking women finished 2nd out of 6 teams propelled by their consistency between both rounds. The team shot a 335 each round to card a total of 670 strokes.    

Kimberly Nelson (JR/Miri, Sarawak) led Grand View with a 4th-place finish. She shot a 160 (81-79) for the event. Nelson was closely followed by teammate, Maria Mantilla (SR/Bogota, Colombia). Mantilla came up one stroke short of Nelson carding a 161 (82-79) and finishing in a tie for 5th-place. Emily Wagner (SR/Casey, IA) jumped seven spots on the leaderboard to also finish in the top-10 for the Vikings. Wagner shot a 173 (89-84).

The only team to defeat Grand View was NCAA Division II team Rockhurst University. Rockhurst shot a 658 (333-325) for the event. Other teams in attendance included Heart of America members: Baker University, Missouri Valley College, and Peru State College. It was Abby Sauber of Rockhurst that stood atop the leaderboard at the end of two rounds. Full results can be seen below.
