[Men's Golf] Men's Golf Finishes 6th out of 24 Teams at NAIA Men's Fall Preview

Silvis, Illinois – The Grand View University men's golf team traveled to the Tournament Players Club at Deere Run on October 16th and 17th to compete in the NAIA Men's Fall Preview. The Vikings finished tied for 6th in a field of 24 teams. This was the largest collection of competitors that the team faced during the 2017-18 season. The field featured four teams ranked in the Top-25 and three others, including Grand View, who received votes in the poll.

Mitch Pfingsten (SR/Fairmont, Minnesota) carded the lowest score for Grand View. The All-American finished in 5th place to claim the top place on the leaderboard for the Viking squad while shooting a 145 (71-74). Pfingsten was one of the best at the tournament in middle distances. He shot a +2 for the tournament on par 4 holes, which was tied for 1st for the event. Meanwhile, Jordan Eng (FR) performed well on shorter lengths and Dan Bredernitz (SR/Mapleton, Illinois) did the same on longer ones. The pair shot E on par 3 and -1 on par 5 holes respectively.

William Penn won the event with an overall score of 596 (303-293). Along with the Vikings and Statesmen, the Mount Mercy Mustangs, Culver-Stockton Wildcats, and Clarke Pride participated in the NAIA Men's Fall Preview from the Heart of America. Grand View, Mount Mercy, and Culver-Stockton all tied for 6th place. Curtis Brokenbow of Missouri Baptist sat atop the leaderboard at the end of the tournament. Full results can be seen below.
