[Women's Golf] Mehaffey claims medalist honors at Swan Lake Intercollegiate
PLYMOUTH, Ind. – Mackenzie Mehaffey (JR/Winchester, Ind.) shot a three-under 69 on day two to claim individual medalist honors by one stroke at the Swan Lake Intercollegiate hosted by Taylor University (Ind.). It wasn't a great overall finish for the Olivet Nazarene University women's team this weekend as the Tigers came in fifth place. Yet, they shot 15 strokes better on Saturday and five of seven individuals did the same.
A total of 35 golfers played in the 36-hole, two-day event at the par-72, 5,818-yard course, Swan Lake Resort. ONU finished fifth with a team score of 671 (343-328, +95). Taylor University (Ind.) won the event with a score of 620 (312-308, +44). Indiana Wesleyan University shot a score of 631 (320-311, +55) to finish tied for second. Bethel College (Ind.) came in tied for third with a score of 635 (316-319, +59) and Cardinal Stritch University (Wis.) finished tied for third with a 635 (325-310, +59).
The Tigers was represented by the individual medalist, Mackenzie Mehaffey, but she was playing as an individual. She shot a 150 (81-69, +6), scoring the low round of the tournament on Saturday at three-under. Stephanie Eby (JR/Lemont, Ill.) came in tied for 17th with a 162 (87-75, +18). Mackenzie Fisk shot a 165 to finish 20th, (84-81, +21). Jacquenline Donahue also played as an individual and shot a 168 (90-78, +24) to finish tied for 24th. Bailey Fleming (JR/Greenfield, Ind.) finished tied for 28th with a 171 (85-86, +27). Julie Hogan (SR/Pontiac, Ill.) came in 30th, shooting a 180 (87-93, +36). Jessica Ackman (JR/Beecher, Ill.) finished tied for 31st with a 183 (97-86, +39).
ONU will be back in action for the spring season.
